On Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, LSSC’s Jon Cochran, Tad LeVan, John Stapleton, and Lowry Yankwich participated in an expungement clinic by the Volunteer UP Legal Clinic.

In total, the Volunteer UP expungement clinic counseled over 300 indigent clients and either filed petitions to expunge their criminal records or explained why they currently are ineligible for expungement but how and when they may petition for expungement in the future. Camden County College hosted the event, and the Camden County Bar Association, New Jersey Public Defender, and Archer & Greiner sponsored it. Prosecutors from the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office also were on hand to assist in identifying and resolving issues to help ensure that filed petitions are more likely to be successful.

Philadelphia’s ABC 6 Action News and NBC 10 covered the event, including by interviewing John Stapleton, who is a member of Volunteer UP's Board of Directors.
